From the Public Information Office at MEMA:
Important Info as the Flood Waters Recede and people start entering their homes -
- DOCUMENT EVERYTHING as thoroughly as possible will LOTS of photos
- It is okay to "Muck Out" houses, but DO NOT REBUILD anything until property damage can be assessed by MEMA (and potentially FEMA)
- Other documentation to keep: receipts for cleaning supplies, any preventative measures taken on your property - tree removal, carpet removal, drywall removal; anything to prevent ADDITIONAL damage to your property - THIS IS IMPORTANT
- Again, DOCUMENT everything
