Amendment to Process on Federal Aid

Right now, we know that initial damage assessment is being done in the area by local emergency management and Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA). Joint Damage Assessment will be done once the waters recede and properties can be more closely assessed. Joint Damage Assessment will be done by local, state and federal agencies assessing damages. Once reports for the entire state have been made it will then be sent to the governor. After being reviewed the governor can then make a request to the President and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for federal funding. A lot is considered in these decisions and there aren't guarantees at this point. But local and state agencies involved are working around the clock to get this done.

It will take patience but be assured the urgency is understood and everything is being done that can possibly be done. Our wonderful community is taking a lot in their own hands to help with residents' immediate needs. Thank you to those reaching out!
